Finding mushrooms in Barcelona

From Montseny to Garraf, Aleppo pine woods and mountain beech forests: a long autumn that stretches into winter. In Barcelona we watch 332 zones one by one, with the forest, the rain and the soil of each. Today it is mostly the saffron milk caps (192 zones), the chanterelles (28 zones) and the yellowfoot (27 zones) that are stirring.

Here the land runs from sea level up to 2,095 m, and half of it lies below 487 m. What covers most ground: Aleppo pine (21%), farmland (14%) and holm oak (11%). Each has its own height here: the saffron milk caps (221–901 m), the chanterelles (308–1,274 m), the yellowfoot (375–1,083 m) and the black trumpets (349–1,194 m).

Girona mushroom report

From Montseny to the Ripollès and the Garrotxa: saffron milk caps, yellowfoot and damp beech forests with the longest autumn in Catalonia. Girona adds up to 260 zones on the map, each with its own fifteen-day forecast. What is stirring most today: the chanterelles (77 zones), the black trumpets (69 zones) and the saffron milk caps (23 zones).

The ground runs from sea level up to 2,376 m, with half of it below 271 m. By area, it is shared out like this: holm oak (17%), farmland (14%) and grassland (12%). And not all at the same height: the chanterelles (221–1,381 m), the black trumpets (287–1,198 m), the saffron milk caps (187–1,308 m) and the yellowfoot (303–1,378 m).

Mushrooms in Lleida: where and when

From the Pallars to the Pre-Pyrenees: fir woods and forests of mountain and Scots pine, with a saffron milk cap culture that runs deep. We follow 520 zones of about five kilometres in Lleida, each with its own forecast for the next fifteen days. Today it is above all the saffron milk caps (92 zones), the yellowfoot (51 zones) and the chanterelles (27 zones) waking up.

From its lowest to its highest it runs between 83 and 2,611 m; half of it below 717 m. The land is split like this: grassland (24%), farmland (22%) and Scots pine (14%). Each has its own height here: the saffron milk caps (440–1,591 m), the yellowfoot (697–1,703 m), the chanterelles (870–1,764 m) and the black trumpets (775–1,405 m).

From the Ports to Prades and Montsant: Mediterranean pine and holm oak woods, with saffron milk caps when the autumn rains come. In Tarragona we watch 257 zones one by one, with the forest, the rain and the soil of each. Today it is mostly the saffron milk caps (80 zones) and the yellowfoot (9 zones) that are stirring.

Here the land runs from sea level up to 1,189 m, and half of it lies below 308 m. What covers most ground: Aleppo pine (30%), scrub (17%) and grassland (17%). And not all at the same height: the saffron milk caps (159–818 m), the yellowfoot (386–970 m), the charbonniers (151–818 m) and the Caesar's mushrooms (299–820 m).
